The Over the Hedge franchise from DreamWorks Animation consists of Over the Hedge (2006), along with a short film Hammy's Boomerang Adventure (2006).

Over the Hedge[]

A raccoon named RJ is foraging for food when he notices his friend Vincent's cave and tries to steal his food, only for it to backfire when Vincent wakes up and the wagon of food id destroyed. Before Vincent eats him, RJ offers to return the food in a week and, after Vincent lets him go, encounters the woodland creatures led by Verne. RJ begins to use the animals into helping him collect the food, which he secretly needs to return to Vincent. Along the way, they encounter the humans Gladys Sharp, the president of the Home Owners Association, and Dwayne LaFontant, an exterminator who was recently hired by Gladys to get rid of the animals. After gathering the food, RJ begins to have a change of heart and goes to help his best friends, angering Vincent to the point where he tries to kill him. After a chase back to the hedge, RJ and his friends manage to defeat Vincent, Gladys, and Dwayne with the Depelter Turbo and celebrate as Vincent is sent to the Rockies and Gladys and Dwayne are arrested. Verne has warmed up to RJ and accepts him as part of the family.

Short film[]

RJ and Bucky, Spike and Quillo prank Hammy with boomerangs, which they throw at him from a box full of them. Eventually, Verne arrives and asks them to stop, which they do. However, RJ later turns the tables and recruits Hammy to help them prank Verne, to which they film him taking a bath without his shell on. As Verne angrily chases RJ back into the hedge, Hammy puts on Verne's shell and doesn't want anyone else to touch it. Then one of the porcupine children shuts off the camera.
