A shot of the hedge when the mother's voice is heard

The offscreen irate mother is an unnamed, offscreen minor character in the movie Over the Hedge. Despite being offscreen and having only at least two lines, it can be imagined what her life is like. Aside from the fact that she lives in a suburban house in El Rancho Camelot like almost every other human character in the movie, she also has a somewhat rebellious son (he is not seen or heard, but he is still implied to exist), and they have a bad relationship with each other.

When the Hedgies first discover the hedge, Verne assumes that the hedge - which they decided to call "Steve" at first - cannot speak, to which they hear the irate's mother's voice shout from the other side "I heard that, young man!" to her son, after the son badmouthed her, most likely attempting to do so under his breath. The animals, thinking that the mother's voice was "Steve" speaking to them, become scared. Then the mother demands her son to "get over here right now!" so she can punish him. Hammy, thinking that it was "Steve" talking about them, walks towards the hedge in defeat, only for Verne to pull him back.
